WILSON, N.C.

The Wilson Tobs will be getting a Belmont Abbey Crusader for the 2017 season, as Sam Luchansky, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Hampstead, North Carolina has signed to play for Aaron Lynch’s club.

In the 2017 college season, Luchansky made 21 appearances out of the Abbey bullpen, where he finished with a record of 3-2 with 2 saves over 21.1 innings pitched. He recorded a 4.43 ERA, struck out 16 batters and walked only 7. His two best outings of the season came at Pfeiffer on March 25 and at Erskine on April 22, in both of which he threw two scoreless innings and struck out one.

“Sam’s in a good spot coming into summer ball,” said Tobs Head Coach Aaron Lynch “he’s in a good groove from the spring because he pitched regularly, but at the same time he wasn’t burned out like you sometimes see in college bullpens. He can get us outs in some big spots this summer.”

The Wilson Tobs home opener for the 2017 season is Sunday, May 28th at 6 p.m.. The Tobs will be facing the Fuquay-Varina Twins. Season tickets, ticket packages and single-game tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.wilsontobs.com/tickets or by calling, (252) 291-8627.

The Wilson Tobs enter their 21st season as an original member within the Coastal Plain League for the 2017 Summer.
