The Coastal Plain League 2014 All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game will be hosted by the Morehead City Marlins on July 12-14 at Puck O’Neal Field at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City, N.C.
The three-day event will feature a 5K run, All-Star Fan Fest including live musical performances, All-Star Home Run Derby, All-Star luncheon, major league scout day, and the sixteenth annual CPL All-Star Game. There will be several opportunities for fans to interact with the All-Stars during the event.
How Players Are Selected:
The 2014 Coastal Plain League All-Star Teams will be voted upon by each of the 14 head coaches and two media representatives for each club. All players will be eligible to be voted on and All-Star candidates will be listed by position on their respective divisional (East and West) ballot, of which the coaches, broadcasters, and media will vote from. Head coaches will not be allowed to vote for their own players, while broadcasters and media representatives will.
The votes will be tallied and the 54 All-Stars will be known. Twenty-seven players will be on the East and 27 will be on the West. Starters will be named based on those players receiving the highest vote tally at their position in their division.
New for 2014 will be the Final Selections by Fan Vote, where the final All-Star player for the East and West teams will be selected by the fans. The final spots will be narrowed down to five players per division, and fans will be able to vote via social media. The players receiving the most votes will be named All-Stars.
*** With over 3,000 people voting in a 24-hour period, the Final Fan Vote winners were Kyle Carroll (Morehead City/Jefferson College) for the East and Rouric Bridgewater (Asheboro/Grand Canyon) for the West. Jason Blum (Fayetteville/Southeast Missouri State) and JD Crowe (Columbia/Francis Marion) finished second for the East and West respectively.

How Coaches Are Selected:
All 14 Coastal Plain League head coaches will participate in the two-day All-Star event. The 2014 CPL All-Star head coaches will be the two coaches who win their respective division’s (East and West) first half championship. The remaining 12 head coaches will serve as assistant coaches for their respective division’s All-Star team.

- Four (4) East All-Star participants & four (4) West All-Star participants
- Three (3) Rounds:
o First Round – 8 outs
o Second Round – 8 outs
o Championship Round – 10 outs
- Either a Home Run or it’s an Out
- Wood bats used only
- Home Runs from Round 1 roll over to Round 2
- Championship Round – both hitters start over at zero (0)
Round-by-Round:
Round 1: Four (4) hitters from East and four (4) hitters from West
- Top two (2) hitters from East and top two (2) hitters from West advance
Round 2: Two (2) hitters from East and two (2) hitters from West
- Top hitter from East and top hitter from West advance
Championship Round: Top East hitter vs. Top West hitter
- Hitters start from zero with hitter who has highest number of home runs hit being crowned the 2014 CPL All-Star Home Run Derby Champion
