FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

The Fayetteville SwampDogs (22-13) plated a season-high 17 runs on a league-high 7 home runs, in one game, to crush the Clams of Edenton (20-14) by a score of 17-12.
The SwampDogs would score runs in each of the first six innings, with homers in each of the first five.

Jameel Edney (Bethune-Cookman) led off the Fayetteville fireworks with his second home run of the season, a three-run shot over the right centerfield wall to put the Dogs on top 3-0.
The SwampDogs plated another run in the second on a solo shot from Mike Farnell (Murray State), his second of the season, to put the Dogs ahead 4-1 after two.

Edney would tack on his fourth RBI of the night in the third inning bringing Jayson Newman (Cal State Northridge) all the way from first on a double into the left field corner. Two batters later Justin Hawkins (Clemson), blasted his team-high sixth homer of the year bringing home two more runs with one swing of the bat. Jay Robinson (New Orleans) would extend the third inning with a walk before Matt Morrow (Wright State) launched the fourth dinger of the game for Fayetteville to complete the 5-run third inning putting the SwampDogs ahead 9-1 after three innings.

Fayetteville’s offense would tack on two more homers in the fourth inning to increase their lead to 11-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. Newman hit his first tater of the year before Jonathan Allen (San Francisco) contributing a cheap seat seeking shot of his own to put Fayetteville ahead by double-digits.

Newman would follow his first homer of the season from the fourth inning with his first grand slam of the season in fifth to put the SwampDogs ahead of Edenton 17-8 after five.

The SwampDogs would tack on some final insurance runs in the sixth on a pair of RBI base hits from Jose Rojas (Miami-Dade) and Andrew Henrickson (East Carolina) to put the run total to 17, where it would stay the remainder of the game.

Brian Ricker (Mitchell College) would earn his first victory of the season, moving him to (1-0) while Kelvan Pilot (Arizona Christian) was saddled with his first loss of the year dropping to a still impressive (3-1).
