FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

The Fayetteville SwampDogs have announced the acquisition of University of Pittsburgh freshman left-handed pitcher Peyton Reesman (Lewistown, Pa.) and Austin Peay State University junior left-handed pitcher Zach Neff (Belleville, Ill.) for the 2017 season.

Reesman posted a strong career at Mifflin County High School where he went 8-0 with an 0.85 ERA in 57.1 innings pitched with 87 strikeouts in his senior season. Reesman was named a 2016 Mid-Penn Commonwealth First Team All-Star at the conclusion of his stand-out senior campaign.

In his junior campaign at Austin Peay in 2017, Neff finished third on the Governor pitching charts with 52 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched. He made 22 appearances with three starts.

Neff began his sophomore season in 2016 as the Governor’s number three weekend starter before developing into a reliable arm out of the bullpen. He made 25 appearances with six starts, while compiling 60 strikeouts in 56.2 innings. In Neff’s freshman season, he saw in action 12 games with two starts on the bump, striking out 22 batters in 20 total innings.

“Peyton and Zach round-out a stellar pitching staff for us,” said SwampDogs head coach Matt Hollod. “They both have a chance to make an instant impact in either the starting rotation or bullpen. They will play an integral role in our run to the Petitt Cup Championship.”

Be sure to stay tuned during the remainder of the off-season as we continue to periodically announce our new members of the 2017 Fayetteville SwampDogs!
