Steamers Win Third Straight with Win Over Peninsula

EDENTON, N.C.

The Edenton Steamers (20-12, 3-1) won their third straight game on Friday night. The Clams took down the Peninsula Pilots (17-15, 1-3) by a final score of 8-6 at Historic Hicks Field.

Edenton jumped out to an early lead once again. In the first inning, Chris Ayers homered to right center to make it 1-0.

Peninsula answered in the second when Drake McNamara took Chris Ramirez over the left-field wall to tie the game.

The Steamers used back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the inning to take the lead back. William Robbins doubled down the left-field line, and Billy Wilson brought him home on an RBI double to right field.

Peninsula opened up the scoring in the third off of Ramirez when Johnathan Embry hit a two-run homer to right field to make it 3-2. Drake McNamara followed that up with an RBI double to left center to push the lead to 4-2.

In the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Steamers got their second home run of the game. Jamie Galazin hit a solo shot to cut the lead to 4-3. After a quite middle innings, the Steamers finally had their famed walk inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Steamers accumulated three walks, three singles and two hit-by-pitches to bring home five runs in the inning. Edenton brought nine different hitters to the plate.

In the top half of the eighth the Pilots responded. Drake McNamara came through once again. This time it was a two-run home run to right center to cut the lead to 8-6. McNamara finished the night 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Carmen Giampetruzzi came down to shut down the ballgame in the ninth after Nick Spear was unable to record an out in the inning. Giampetruzzi picked up his league-leading sixth save of the season.

Sean Hughes (1-1) got the win for Edenton while Paul Hall Jr. (1-2) got the loss for Peninsula.

Edenton will be back in action on Saturday against the Wilmington Sharks in the Shark Tank. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
