EDENTON, N.C.

The Edenton Steamers (29-24, 12-13) took down the Wilson Tobs (17-37, 8-9) 9-5 in the final home game of the season at Historic Hicks Field. With the win, the Clams are just one win away from clinching a spot in the 2017 Petitt Cup Playoffs.

Edenton jumped out to the early lead with an RBI single by Billy Wilson to make it 1-0. The Steamers added to the lead in the fifth when Billy Wilson brought home his second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Chris Ramirez held down the fort for Edenton through the first five innings. However, the Tobs responded in the top half of the sixth.

Wilson got a pair of tow-run home runs from Shane Shepard and Josh Ladowski to take the lead 4-2. This was the first and last lead for the Tobs.

With the Clams trailing, Anthony Maselli hit a solo home run out to right to cut into the lead. Maselli also broke a CPL record tonight in consecutive stolen bases going 30-for-30 on the season. Billy Wilson followed the Maselli home run with a solo shot of his own to tie the game 4-4. The Steamers retook the lead on an error by Austin Fisher after Chirs Ayers came home to score.

Anthony Maselli came in during the eighth inning for Edenton, but the Tobs got the second homer of the night from Shane Shepard to tie the game. The bottom half of the eighth inning was very friendly to the Steamers. The Steamers brought home four runs on no hits and one error to take the 9-5 lead. Carmen Giampetruzzi worked the ninth inning to help the Clams to victory.

Anthony Maselli (1-0) got the win for Edenton and KJ McAllister (0-1) took the loss for Wilson. The Teal and Black will be back in action at Peninsula tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
