The Edenton Steamers (0-2) fell to the Wilmington Sharks (2-0) on a walk off home run to finish the 2017 season in the East Division Final. The Clams conclude the 2017 season 32-27 overall.

The game at Buck Hardee Field was a pitchers duel. Brayden Gorham threw all seven innings for the Sharks while giving up seven hits, two runs, one earned and five strikeouts. Cody Maw went six innings for Edenton giving up two runs on five hits while striking out five.

Both teams picked up their first two runs of the game in the third inning. The Clams got their runs thanks to a passed ball to score Anthony Maselli, and an RBI single by Billy Wilson to bring home Chris Ayers. The Sharks answered with a pair of runs on two hits and a walk. Michael Sandle delivered a two-RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

The bats stayed quiet in the late innings of the game. Both teams stranded runners in scoring position on multiple occasions. In the bottom of the ninth, the Sharks’ Dan Wondrack hit a walk off two-run home run to left field off of Chris Ramirez to end the Steamers’ season.

Chris Ramirez (0-1) took the loss for Edenton while Ryan Hedrick (2-0) got the win for Wilmington.
