SAVANNAH, GA.

The Savannah Bananas and the Forest City Owls locked up in a pitching duel on Friday night that remained scoreless until the 8th inning when the Bananas Jameson Hannah (Dallas Baptist) blasted a 2-run homerun to catapult the Bananas into the Petitt Cup championship series.

Ryan Flores (Richland College) brought his A-game and held the Owls to no runs while scattering four hits through 8 innings with 12 strikeouts.

Hannah came through in the clutch and broke open the defensive struggle in the bottom of the eight with a 2-run homer that slammed into the right field foul pole.

The game was a couple hundred shy of a Grayson Stadium sellout, but the 3746 screaming fans in attendance spent most of the night on their feet.

The Bananas will face the East Division Champions, the Peninsula Pilots, at home on Sunday at 7:00PM. Tickets are limited and available at thesavannahbananas.com/championship or by calling (912)712-2482. This will be the Bananas’ last appearance at Grayson of 2016. The Bananas will play the second game of the series in Peninsula, VA on Monday night as well as the third game if needed.
