FLORENCE, S.C.

Both teams combined for 23 hits but the top-seeded Florence RedWolves defeated the High Point-Thomasville HiToms 8-3 to sweep the CPL West Division Series two games to none and advance to the West Championship Series.

The HiToms jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Joey Havrilak (Akron) hit a RBI sacrifice fly to center field. Florence responded just as quickly in the bottom half when Andrew Cox smacked a game-tying RBI single to right field. In the bottom of the second inning, RedWolves third baseman Jordan Gore gave his team the lead for good with a RBI sacrifice fly and his teammate Brandon Rawe followed three batters later with a RBI single.

Florence levied a balanced offensive attack, recording at least one hit in every inning.

HiToms starting pitcher Jordan Simons (Louisville) took the loss only going one and two-third innings allowing three earned runs on six hits.

The HiToms finish their season at 26-31 making the playoffs for the second straight season. For more information going into the 2015 season, continue to visit hitoms.com.
