MARTINSVILLE, VA

The Martinsville Mustangs are excited to announce Brian McConnell as their new General Manager.    McConnell has been with the Mustangs since the 2014 season and led the Mustangs operation during the 2015 season.

“I am tremendously excited for this opportunity to lead the Mustangs” McConnell states.  “I have had an amazing time getting to know our fans and our partners here in the community the past couple years and I can’t wait to be more involved with them going forward into next season” McConnell added.  “2016 is going to be a great year for the Mustangs and the Martinsville-Henry County community”.

McConnell joined the Mustangs in 2014, serving as the Director of Group Sales.  He was responsible for meeting with businesses, non-profit organizations, and churches to show them a great time at Hooker Field.  Following the 2014 season McConnell was promoted to the Director of Ticket Sales where he headed up the F.A.M. Non-Profit Program, as well as the Mustangs Reading Program.  From there McConnell was able to set the stage for a successful 2015 season.

The Mustangs finished in the top 5 in the CPL in attendance during the 2015 season.  Averaging 1,449 fans a game, the Mustangs finished 28th in the nation in average attendance in college summer ball.

“Brian has made an amazing impact the past two seasons in Martinsville,” said Mustangs President Jesse Cole.  “Not only has he connected tremendously with our fans but he has become very involved with the community!  I’m confident that Brian will help make the 2016 season the most successful season in franchise history.”

Brian is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and attended NC State University in Raleigh.  There he earned a degree in Sport Management with a Minor in Business Administration.  Brian has been involved with multiple organizations within the MHC community such as Crime Stoppers, United Way, The Salvation Army, the SPCA of Martinsville, and many more.
