Gastonia Beats Owls In Extras; Division Title Game With Florence Monday

FOREST CITY, N.C.

The Grizzlies scored five runs in the 12th inning to escape Forest City with a 10-5 victory over the Owls Saturday night at McNair Field.

Ryan Whitt (King) went 4-for-6 with 4 RBI. Babe Thomas (Winthrop) was 3-for-7 with 2 RBI and Jeremy Howell (Kennesaw State) 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Gastonia (16-11) hosts Florence Monday at Sims Legion Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:17 p.m.  The winner will take the first-half West Division crown and earn an automatic bid into the Petit Cup playoffs starting Aug. 6.
