HAMPTON, VA.

Drew Delsignore hit a two-run walk off home run to lift the Peninsula Pilots to its sixth straight victory with a 7-5 win over the Edenton Steamers on Monday night.
Tied at five in the bottom of the ninth inning, Spencer Horwitz (Radford) reached on a two-base error with two outs to prolong the inning. Delsignore took his first pitch from Carmen Giampetruzzi (Boston College) over the left-field wall for his 10th home run of the season, which set a team record for most home runs in a single season.
The late dramatics allowed Ryan Fox (VCU) to move to 3-1 on the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning. The pitching staff allowed only three hits on the night and was plagued by a couple walks and a miscue early in the game. Jackson Wark (St. Louis) kept the Pilots in the game in the middle innings by tossing three hitless innings and striking out seven.
Peninsula (23-15, 7-3) continued a common trend by taking the lead early with a run in the first inning. Jonathan Embry (Liberty) won a nine-pitch battle with a single to left-center to start the inning for the Pilots. Matt Schneider (Mercyhurst) followed with a single to right field to move Embry to third. A double play ball off the bat of Logan Augustine (Lincoln Memorial) allowed Embry to score for the early lead.
The Pilots plated a run in the second inning to extend their lead. Three consecutive singles by Delsignore, Sam Griggs (Southern Indiana), and Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) loaded the bases with no outs. A fielder’s choice off the bat of Zac Ching (VMI) scored Delsignore for a two-run lead.
Edenton (22-16, 5-5) found the scoreboard in the third inning. Two walks and a wild pitch put runners on the corners with one out. A sharp ground ball by Billy Wilson (Loyola Marymount) was corralled by Schneider at first base for the second out but allowed the run to score to cut the lead to one.
The Steamers took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning. A single and three straight walks brought in the tying run for the visitors. Two runs came across on an error and a wild pitch scored another run to put the Steamers ahead 5-2.
Drake McNamara (Southern Indiana) delivered a two-run double to bring the Pilots within one in the fifth inning.
Peninsula tied it at five apiece with a Horwitz single off the pitcher in the seventh inning that scored Schneider before Delsignore’s home run in the ninth lifted the team to its sixth straight win.
The Pilots will hit the road for a quick two-game road trip beginning with Wilmington on Tuesday night before facing Holly Springs on Wednesday. The Pilots and Steamers will have a rematch on Thursday night at War Memorial Stadium.
