LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C.

After a rainout on Thursday night, the Blowfish set their sights on three straight victories when they welcomed the Bananas to the Lex on Friday night.

Lexington County mashed season highs in hits and runs scored in the game as they mushed the Bananas 12-2. 10 runs is the largest positive run differential on the season for the Blowfish as well.

The Fish were off and running in the home half of the second when they strung together five straight base runners to begin the inning.

After a leadoff walk, Chase Turner (St. Leo University) slammed a double to left field that was followed up by another double off the bat off Danny Wilson (UNC-Ashville).

After a Nick Guimbarda (Presbyterian) SAC fly, Mickey Dugan (Gardner-Webb) smacked the third extra base hit of the inning; an RBI double that gave Lexington County a 4-0 lead.

Jared Williams (USC-Lancaster) knocked a SAC fly that extended the Blowfish lead to five that capped the huge second inning for Lexington County.

After the Bananas went quietly in the top of the third, Lexington County went back to work in the bottom of the third.

Drew Ellis (Mt. Olive University) smashed a solo home run to the opposite way to lead off the third. Ellis punched it through the wind in left center field as he knocked his first home run of the season.

The Blowfish added one more in the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 9-0 lead over Savannah.

The Bananas cut the Fish lead to seven when they scratched two home in the top of the six, but the Blowfish responded with a three run bottom of the seventh to go back ahead by double digits.

In total Lexington County clubbed 16 hits, six of which were extra base hits, and won the ballgame 12-2.

Tate Gillespie (TAMU-CC) notched his second win of the season going 5 strong allowing just three hits and a strikeout.

Saturday night’s win marks the third straight for the Blowfish, the longest streak of 2017, as they will set their sights on four straight Saturday night in Savannah.
